Steven Lamb Giclee Print
Steven Lamb was born in 1958 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He majored in printmaking and illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia and attended the Academy of Graphic Art and Painting in Leipzig, Germany where he specialized in techniques of old German painters.
Steven's creations combine in a unique way all media in an effort to create his own world so that humor mingles elegantly with serious themes, thus giving his works more life and meaning. He uses the grotesque as a medium of social commentary. His people always comic, distorted and exaggerated are immediately recognizable. What is typical about Lamb is his keen observation of popular culture and understanding of human nature.
From 1985 to 1988, Steven worked as a free-lance artist in Bulgaria and exhibited his art in Stutgard and Berlin, Germany. In 1989, he moved to St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada where he began work as a printmaker at St. Michael Printshop. In 1993 Steven settled in Montreal.
Steven is an incredibly talented and experienced artist. He has worked for numerous printmakers and galleries, painted for collectors, illustrated for book publishers and painted an exterior fresco. The ultimate compliment - in 2006, Steven was invited to make a presentation at the Summer Cocktail Party by the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, Lise Thibault.
